Sophie grew up in Beaverton, Oregon and began dancing at New Vision Dance Center at three years old. Through the years she trained in a variety of dance styles including jazz, ballet, contemporary, tap, and hip hop and was a member of the NVDC Company. At age 13 she joined NVDC’s competitive team and attended a variety of conventions and competitions in the Portland area. In addition, Sophie attended several ballet intensives hosted at the studio as well as Summer Dance Lab held at Whitman College. Sophie began teaching and assisting classes in 2019. 

After graduating from NVDC in 2020, she made the University of Oregon Competitive Dance Team where she performed at Duck basketball and hockey games, taught at clinics, and competed on the national floor at UDA and USA (where the team ranked 3rd in the nation). While attending school, Sophie also continued to teach at local studio in Eugene where she taught jazz, contemporary, and lyrical to elementary and middle school students and led classes for the studios youngest dancers. 

Sophie’s favorite thing about teaching is seeing her students improve and watching them nail a move they’ve been working hard on!
