FAQs
What age should I start my child in dance?
Any age is great! There is no perfect time to place your child in dance classes. Starting at an earlier age, however, can help children better develop their coordination and movement skills!
How do I choose the correct class for my child?
MINI MOVERS
Enrollment in Mini Mover classes (ages 18 months - 6 years) is based on your child’s age as of 9/1/26 and we recommend continuing with that class/level for the entire dance season (August-June).
If your child is currently 3 and will turn 4 during the season, they are a great fit for our Kinder (3-4yr) Ballet/Tap class.
If your child is currently 4 and will turn 5 during the 2026-27 season, they are best suited for our Kinder (4-6yr) Ballet/Tap class.
Kinder (4-6yr) Ballet/Tap Level 2 is designed for dancers with 1-2 years of ballet/tap class experience who wish to continue building their dance foundation in a combo class setting.
We are also excited to offer additional Mini Mover classes, including ProDANCE, Hippity Hop & Jazz, and AcroDANCE! These are perfect for energetic little dancers and a fun way to enjoy the studio more than once a week.
SCHOOL AGE:
Class placement for school-age dancers is based on both grade level in school and years of dance experience. Our class progression is Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 (also labeled Beginning/Intermediate, Intermediate/Advanced, and Advanced). After completing most or all of a year in their current level, dancers are typically ready to move up. If your dancer will be in the 3rd Grade for the 2026-27 school year they are best suited for our 3rd-5th Grade (8-11yr) classes.
Classes labeled Beginning/Intermediate (Beg/Int) are designed for dancers in their first or second year of Ballet, Contemporary, Hip Hop, or Tap. Intermediate/Advanced (Int/Adv) classes are best suited for dancers in their third or fourth year.
If you have questions about the best placement for your dancer, please contact the Front Desk—we’re happy to help!
What are the benefits of putting my child into dance classes?
Regardless of the type of dance your child wants to learn, dance classes help improve balance and coordination. They can also help improve muscle tone, strength and posture. Because your child will have an outlet for their energy, they may also have an increased attention span that allows them to do better in school. Other benefits of dance include: Social, emotional and cognitive growth, discipline, perseverance, motivation, heightened cognitive abilities and memory skills, and enhanced sensory awareness.
How much do classes cost?
Please refer to our Tuition & Fees page.
What is the dress code for classes?
Please bring your child to class ready in their dance clothes; this keeps the bathrooms available for those who need them. Bring his/her shoes marked with their name in a dance bag. Please wear cover-ups over your dancewear when you come and go from the dance studio and please do not wear your dance shoes outside of the studio (this includes tennis shoes worn for Hip Hop, Hippity Hop or ProDANCE). Upon arrival, proceed to the waiting area, put on your child's shoes, and wait for your child's teacher to call you in for class.
